What to Expect

…before your session:

Once you’ve hired me, I will ask you to fill out the new client form so that I know what you expect out of our time together. This will need to be filled out before our session. There you can spell out what types of shots you’re looking to get (posed, candid, what type of lighting, etc.), if you want any specific props, and location ideas. Or you can leave that all up to me and I can just get creative and have some things ready for the day of the shoot. It’s helpful if I know what you’d like to get, however!

…during your session:

I am very laid back, but always try to be efficient and thoughtful of your schedule.  Sessions can take anywhere from just 30 minutes total (for mini sessions) up to 2 hours, depending on your needs.  I prefer to shoot outdoors, but in the cooler months indoor locations can be just as fun—your child’s playroom, an indoor park like the Nicholas Conservatory, or any of your favorite places to be.  All that matters is that you’re comfortable and we can get the shots you want!

…what to wear:

If it’s a child’s portrait session, I would suggest the most funky, quirky outfit you can put your child in—the funkier the better! If it’s a family portrait, matching is unnecessary but coordinated colors are always good.  For newborns, nothing beats that adorable bare baby skin! Engagement photos can be as casual or as formal as you’d like. My only rule/suggestion/desire is that you dress in what makes you comfortable, and whatever makes you happiest.
